Bluetooth

Searching the Bluetooth.com website, I found two new devices that have been enhanced by Bluetooth technology, which is the first set of Bluetooth smart devices released by the end of this year, the Motorola’s Bluetooth smart device called the MOTOACTV and Dayton & Nordic’s first Bluetooth smart device heart strap.

As shown on MOTOACTV.COM, the MOTOACTV is a small light device that is more than just a stylish asset to anyone’s daily exercising routine. This device allows you to track your own workout performance data on their MOTOACTV.com website, by transferring your time, distance, speed and calories burned measured by via Bluetooth, Accusense Technology, accelerometer and precision GPS. Therefore, with this device precisely measuring all the aspects of your data, not only can you see how you are doing and where you are directly on the touch screen display, but you can also analyze how you are doing after your workout sessions. This device also lets you connect to wifi and other Smartphones with Bluetooth v4.0, such as Apple’s IPhone 4S, to allow you to continue to get texts and phone calls (with their stereo Bluetooth headphones). Displayed along with MOTOACTV, is Motorola’s Wireless Sports Headphones that has a heart rate monitor built in as well. Along with this new technology, this device also has a smart music player where it develops high-performance playlists by learning what songs can motivate you, through tracking your performance level against the music.

The other device is the first production of the Bluetooth low energy heart rate built that can be connected with any Bluetooth v4.0 Smartphone or gadget, as displayed on Nordic Semiconductors website. This product is produced by Dayton, the world’s leading developer of wireless sports and fitness monitoring developer and manufacturer, in collaboration with Nordic Semiconductor ASA, who is an ultra low power RF specialist. This device will allow people to monitor their heart rate and is the thinnest wireless heart-rate belt they have produced. It is suppose to last 1.5 years based on typical 1-hour/ day usage conditions.

I choose these two devices because, it shows how Bluetooth is utilized now to enhance sports and fitness devices, to monitor individuals performance. I think this will create a new market where many athletes and individuals will purchase for the ease and comfort these devices provide to monitor and track their performance in their daily workout routines. I believe this also opens the door for Bluetooth to expand into other monitoring equipment used in other industrial fields, such as the medical field to increase the ability to monitor patients’ heart-rates, blood pressure, respiratory rate among other things.

Bluetooth

One of the biggest hits in the bluetooth industry is bluetooth keyboards and mice. These are so popular because the allow users with bluetooth enabled devices to easily connect to a mouse and keyboard. These are popular at the moment due to the recent inovations with the ipad and other tablets. People are able to take their touch screen ipad and turn it into a virtual laptop by connecting via bluetooth to their keyboard. This enables the user to create documents, emails, and all text in a simpler and much more efficient way. They dont have to worry about pressing the wrong key due to the touch screen keyboard on the device itself, instead they can type just like they normally would be able to on any personal computer. Reading about these blutooth keyboards reminded me about how the book stated that input devices are able to enhance the performance the user has within the IT field and I believe that these bluetooth keyboards define that perfectly. When I looked at different bluetooth keyboard the HiPPih IEagle Foldable bluetooth keyboard was most interesting to me. Offered as an accessory to Ipad when you purchase it online, this keyboard allows users a full size keyboard which fits in your pocket. This keyboard would perfectly suite a business professional bringing their Ipad to a presentation because its not only convienient, it offers everything a standard keyboard does.
The second piece of bluetooth technology that I looked at was in the medical field. The product is the foldable bluetooth baby scale. I thought that this product was interesting because it allows the user to easily store data about their new born child. This product developed by Soehnle Professional allows the user to send data straight from the scale to a personal computer in a way to easily track the weight of a new born child. The scale wirelessly transmits the data from the scale and sends it to a personal device to keep help track the progress of your child. This will help improve your day to day life because it will help you stay organized ans keep information of your child electronically. This improvement to technology in the medical field reminded me about when we talked about outsourcing. Hospitals these days are even able to outsource their medical field by sending things such as x-rays, and MRI's overseas and having doctors asses them in places such as India. These new baby scales could be a new way of hospitals keeping in touch with its patients without having the patient to come in but instead send the weight and such through the web. This will not only increase productivity but will make the life of both parents and doctors much more simple.

3G VS. 4G

There is a lot of debate about the 3G and 4G networks and having phones with the 4G capability but having to downgrade back to 3G network because there is not enough 4G service. So at this point with any phone service there are three things in order to get access 1. a network, 2. a device for connecting, and 3. a service plan. The sprint 4G service is available in 62 cities with the network providing adequate coverage on the coasts but it’s not in the middle of country, there are 12 states with no sprint 4G service at all. When you can’t the 4G connection its fallback is to use the sprint 3G network which is based on evolution data optimized technology. It’s available in all 50 states as for the other 3G networks there are huge holes in the upper Midwest and Sprint says that over the next two years it will fill out a national 4G network.
T-Mobile currently offers an upgrade high speed packet access 3G network and AT&T is also busy rolling out high speed packet and is testing long term evolution technology, for a planned commercial 4G rollout over the next two years. As well as Verizon launching its own long term evolution network on a trial basis with limited coverage in 38 cities and 60 airports. The company says the network will be completed nationwide in 2013. I currently have the Sprint HTC EVO 3D phone and because of where I am I can’t access the 4G network. The most frustrating thing to me is having a phone with the capability but because of the technology I can’t use my phone to its fullest capacity. I don’t believe that phones should be made with the 4G capability because of the limited access of the network. Its point less to have the technology to support a faster network connection when the network is not available. So I guess in time the network will be up in running but how fast technology is developing and I believe the next best thing will be out. - Alanna Johnson

bluetooth

I looked at the Bluetooth.com site. The two that interested me the most was, they have a new Bluetooth app for the iphone. You can track your health through out your phone. And also the hands free phone for your car.

The iphone/ipod, has apps now that you can put a Bluetooth chip in your shoe so when you are running/ walking it will send what your heart rate and how much calories you are burning from your work out. I think this is very interesting because a your don’t even no the chip is in your shoe because its so small and It can be pulled up right on your phone/mp3 player. This is new technology that is changing the whole sports market. A few years ago this would be unheard of, no one ever thought this would be possible. After reading about this I want to go out and buy one.

The other one I looked at was the car Bluetooth. Now that the laws have changed in most states prohibiting you to use your phone when you’re driving. This is a great product to use. When someone calls you or your talking to someone on the phone it comes through the car radio. The interesting part is that your phone can be in your pocket, and just because it’s in the car you can answer it thought the radio. A lot of business sales people are using them; most deals are done in the car or on a golf course. You can also answer text messages and write them back thought this Bluetooth product. Most cars have them already installed when you buy the car. But if you have an older car you can buy it at best buy or on the Bluetooth website. My mom bought a new car and it already installed. When im in the car my phone locks right in to. It’s easy to use and not hard to set up. I think this product will save life’s, because most car accident that happen because people are on the phone or texting. Over all the two products I have looked at are great ideas. I can’t wait to see what Bluetooth comes up with in the coming years.

Bluetooth

The two devices that I chose to talk about for this assignment are wireless mice and wireless speakers. Both of these products have been enhanced with Bluetooth technology to make everything easier and to not hold us back with being connected to a device by wires. I chose these two devices because I use and own both of these. I have an Apple Magic Mouse and it connects to my laptop wirelessly via Bluetooth technology. Having a mouse that uses Bluetooth technology is so helpful because the mouse isn’t connected to my laptop from wires, so I don’t have to worry about the mouse getting tangled with other wires, or just something else. Also its nice because I can use my mouse anywhere around my laptop, not just the distance that a wired mouse will allow you because it is connected to your computer. The second device that I chose to talk about is computer speakers that use Bluetooth technology. I chose to talk about the computer speakers because I also own a pair of speakers that connect to my laptop wirelessly via Bluetooth technology. The way that the computer speakers work are very similarly to the Apple Magic Mouse, it connects to my laptop using short-ranged radio waves to connect the two devices together, this is known as pairing. Once the two devices are paired up I can move the speakers anywhere in my dorm room and they will still play music. It’s nice to be able to do this if you need to, because if the speakers are plugged in to a computer then you can only move them as far as the wires allow you to move them. I would recommend to anyone to invest in a wireless mouse that uses Bluetooth technology and I would also recommend that you invest in a pair of Bluetooth speakers because they both are awesome not being connected to something from wires. T is nice to have the freedom and ability to move either of them basically wherever you please and still being able to use them.

Bluetooth Technology

The two bluetooth products I decided that were cool were the headphones and keyboard. These two products have been enhanced by bluetooth technology in several ways. Headphone wires have always been a pet peeve of mine because they always get in the way when you are doing something, especially when you work out or go running. Having headphones just sync to your iPhone or iPod wirelessly with the bluetooth technology I think is a huge convenience. It just makes headphones that much better for consumers and also people don't have to be directly connected to the device they are listening to. They could be all the way across a room and still be able to hear music or listen to a movie if they have hearing problems. The bluetooth headphones also help elderly people who have hearing problems because they can connect their headphones and listen to the tv or movies without having to blast the volume or sit very close to the tv. Bluetooth keyboards are also becoming a very convenient bluetooth technology because of the major surge in iPad's and tablets being sold. Not everyone likes to type on the touch screen so it is very helpful to have a keyboard that you can connect wirelessly to your device and use that to type. They are also used on the new tv's that have internet access on them. I think that bluetooth technology has revolutionized technology in a way that makes all devices so much more convenient and even safer to use, such as bluetooth headsets while driving.

The RFID System

The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a generic term that is used to describe a system that transmits the identifier in the form of number that are different of an object by wireless radio waves. The RFID is grouped under the broad category of automatic identification technology. The purpose for this new technology system is to get data to be transmitted by a portable device, called a tag, which then processes according to the need of the company or business applications. The RFID provides specifics about a product tagged, that could be prices, colored, and the date of that purchase of the item. This system technology “now” has been adopted by thousands of companies because it makes the process of business easier to track items, and also makes it fast and more efficient for the company’s business process. The Radio Frequency Identification system has gained so much attention in the last years because of its ability to track moving objects or items. This is very attractive to company’s because it gives them the sense of knowing if their items of products are getting there on time and safely. In the Manufacturing aspect, the RFID has the ability in manufacturing plants, to use the tracking parts that work in processes and reduce defects, and also increases the managing of production of different versions of the process of a project. Within the Supply Chain Management the technology has been used in the close loop supply chain in different company’s process. The company has retrievers that the data is stored on the RFID, and can be read by radio waves that signal back to the tag. The RFID is the new age of tracking data, and soon will be replacing the bar code.

Response to Cory

Cory, I could not agree with you more! It is remarkable to see how inspirational Jobs is. Jobs is an innovator, a creator, and a thinker with no constraints. By just listening to his empowering speeches, I would never guess that he would be the student to drop out of college, or be the employee to be fired from his own company. Nothing has stopped Jobs from accomplishing his goals, despite the many hardships and hard times which he has endured. But despite these ‘bumps in the road’, Steve Jobs always remained positive and productive. His work with Apple has set the standard of excellence in information systems. I think it is safe to say that all Apple products are the epitome and ideal of what technology should be. Jobs will be dearly missed-not by just the people in this world that know him personally, but by all those whose lives are affected in one way or another by Apple. Also, I was not aware that Jobs created Toy Story, which is definitely a movie which is a defining characteristic of our generation growing up. Great Job!

What Steve Jobs Did for Us

I truly believe that the story of Steve Jobs is a story of
inspiration, success and motivation. His innovation has changed the world in a
way that we will be able to see for years to come. His success story focuses on
the challenges in which he had to overcome to become who he became. He was aware of a need that people were
searching and he successfully satisfied that need by addressing it in any way
possible. Steve Jobs can be thanked for the iPod the iPhone, the MacBook’s, and
the iPad. These products are today’s latest essentials and they will be very
important in the business world.
Jobs changed retail by adding products that have lead in
their industries. Its competitors try to match the level of innovation but Steve
jobs made Apple the leading manufacturer for MP3 players, Laptops Pads and
Phones.
Music and entertainment has been affected by Steve Jobs
because people now can listen to music anywhere they want and can sink it to
any of their devices through iTunes. ITunes makes it easy for anyone to
download music, movies and even listen to radio broadcasts.
Business has been affected
in such a big way. You see people using iPads in meetings instead of a laptop
or writing down notes. Business is affected by this even if they are not Apple
users because competitors update and try to innovate to compete with Apple and these
changes the way business runs all over the world.
Education has been effected positively by the innovations of
Steve Jobs because as a student I can see how convenient it is to have a Mac,
in the last 3 years I have never had a virus on my MacBook, I have never had an
issue with my iPod and now I just upgraded to an iPhone, it influences my
education because it keeps me organized and updated with the latest technology
trends which is good for me because I will be able to understand technology in
the future if I am always up to date and using the latest technology for my
education.
Steve Jobs allowed us through his ideas to be able to multi
task and do more with our lives, his struggles show us that anyone can have a
dream and use the “thinking out of the box” technique to change the world.

Steve Jobs-May You Rest In Peace

It is hard to even think about where to begin in regards to the life and career of Steve Jobs. Jobs was an innovator to transforming information systems into user friendly tools to help a person’s lifestyle. He defied the assumption that all corporate CEOS of large companies are “big”, “bad”, and ruining the structure of the United States. If anything, Jobs provided a standard that all CEOs and all executives should follow. Though his death did not come as a total shock to many, his death has affected many Apple enthusiasts personally. It is the end of an era, but Jobs’ legacy will live on forever.

Jobs impacted information systems for the better. Previous to the start of Apple, there was no true competitor to the work of Bill Gates. Jobs created seamless information systems that have become the “designer” gadgets in retail. Specifically, within retail, Jobs set the bar standard of quality. Though the typical user will pay a heftier price than purchasing a non-Apple product, the price tag insures a level of high quality and high expectations. Complaints for Apple products rare, and if there is an issue-the tech workers fix those Macbooks, iPhones, and iPads in only a moment’s time.

I personally feel that Jobs greatest advancement with the company was the introduction of the iPod. To this day, there is not an MP3 player that even comes close to the superiority and excellence of this product. iPods fit nearly every individual’s needs and personality. Additionally, Jobs created and founded a music information system that works hand in hand with the iPod. iTunes is a conventional, yet functional computer program. Its simplicity makes the program easy to use, but the additional features and applications can make iTunes very advanced for the tech-savvy user.

I do not believe that the work of Steve Jobs can be summed up in just one blog post. I am more than impressed by his work and inspiration he has left on this world. I think it is safe to say that Jobs is a hero to information systems. I hope that the work of Apple will only to continue to grow, and that Jobs inspiration and powerful words live on forever.

Steve Job's

Steve Job’s life is a unbelievable story which people should be inspired from. Steve Job’s was one of the smartest and most powerful person to ever live. He accomplished and overcame a great deal in his life that no one would have ever expected especially with his background. He was a cancer survivor; a college drop out, as well as him being fired from his own company. Steve Job’s life is beyond what anyone could ever dream; he started his own company from scratch in his garage with one other person. It is now one of the largest and most known companies out there. I find it crazy to believe that one man created an entire system of computers as well as software for these computers that people use today. He changed the whole experience of the internet as well as created his own animated movie company which is one of the greatest movies of all time, Toy Story. Steve Job’s was fired from his own company and still he came back to create a motion pictures called Pixar which he then sold to Apple and regained his job back within the company. Nothing could stop this man, from being a college drop out, to being fired from his own creation, to being a cancer survivor, not expected to live more than 6 months, he still pushed through everything and created the greatest technology out there right now. Steve Job’s is a legend and will never be forgotten, he proves that everyone who has a struggle can still overcome it and become a great success.

Steve Jobs

I feel like Steve Jobs is an icon for entrepreneur’s worldwide. Because he started apple in his garage and than turned it in to a multi billion dollar company. He went to college but than dropped out to process his goal in apple. In one of the clips the host was putting Jobs in the same categories, as huge named people in are history. And than said he was a step a head of all them. I feel like he was correct if it was never for Jobs than the computer might not be as easy to use as it is now. He took something that was hard to use and understand and made it so everyone could benefit from use it. Jobs quoted “ windows took Mac’s programs and made it there own” witch I thought was ironic because I had a dell for a while with windows on it but than moved up and bought a Mac book, which also has Microsoft programs on it. I feel like it senses I had a dell for so long I got accustom to how that windows worked. But now that I have a Mac is a lot easier to use. Because on your keyboard it’s all about “command” something, witch on a dell everything was laid out for you. I love my Mac book better than any other laptop I have had.

Jobs took over the retail world for computers, music devices, and cell phones. He made it so simple to put mp3 music from a cd to your computer to your ipod or iphone. All of the products that he produced are in demand in all parts of the world. Even though apple products are on the higher end of the price chart, you are paying for not just the name but also the service. Any problems you have with any of their products you can go to any apple store and they will help u fix it for free, if you still have a warranty. Places like best buy or other company’s make you jump though hoops to get it fixed. Most of the time you need to ship it to the manufacture to fix and wait up to a month to get it back. Throughout Jobs life he had ups and downs but everyone will always remember him as one of the best. Frontrunners in are lifetime. And the best entrepreneur in the decade.

Steven Paul Jobs

Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 to two university graduates who gave him up for adoption when we was born. Jobs a smart but directionless, Steven experimented with diferent pursuits before starting Apple Computers with Stephen Wozniak in Steven's families garage. Their revolutionary products, which included the ipod, iphone and the ipad are now to be concidered as a dictating the evolution of modern technology in our precent time. Steven Jobs had success in 1970 that put Apple back on track. His product the imac, had a effective branding campaign that caught the attention of the consumers in the market at the time boosting Apple to the top. Apple went through the roof after this campaign. Apple introducted revolutionary products such as the macbook air, ipod, and the iphone which dictated the evolution of modern technology. In 2008, Apple's program itunes became the second biggest music retailer in America, which marks a success point in their company. This new technology in Apple's products have changed how we do business, retail, music, and the education process for the better. Steven's products alow us as consumers to do daily activies faster and more effective and efficent than ever before. Information can now be passed on easier from comapny to company, person to person, and from your hand whereever you are in the world. Steven Jobs lived a good life with some rough parts in it but has made all of our life better too through what he did at Apple. We can learn from him to never stop trying new things and always try to follow your dreams. Steve Jobs changed the world of technology to a high level system and would like to thank him for what he did. He will aways be remembered fro what he did at his company Apple.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs left behind an amazing legacy. He may in fact be the greatest entrepreneur of all time according to the video, which I very much agree with. Steve was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc. Steve also founded Pixar Animation Studios and Next, which was a computer platform system. As you can tell Steve Jobs was an extremely smart and gifted individual. By watching these videos I learned a whole lot about him that I never knew. For one, I did not have a clue that he got fired from Apple and went on to create two other extraordinary businesses. This just shows the determination Steve had which eventually landed him back at his original position of CEO at Apple Inc. Also, I never knew that he did not graduate from college. When I heard this, it just blew my mind. I had no clue that someone of that intelligence could just not attend college. But then I realized that we were in different times and that was probably normal for some people back then.

Steve Jobs basically created the whole entertainment side of technology. If you look at some early Apple commercial’s you could see what I’m talking about. He took everything a regular pc had, put it on steroids and added things such as music and Photoshop. He created ITunes which made listening and storing music easy. ITunes also made transferring music from your computer to your IPod easy. Itunes was a huge break for Apple because everyone who had a regular pc had to find some program to transfer music to their device and it was very frustrating, ITunes took away these headaches. Due to this, you now see ITunes on almost every computer. This is not the only program Steve Jobs took to the next level; he put Photoshop on the map. Mac’s were a photographer’s dream, it made editing, printing and saving extremely easier. Another thing Steve Jobs was genius at was the way he marketed his products. He knew what to say and when to say it. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80sWifG40B0 , in this video he is saying a pc processing system is good but why would you buy that when you can a Mac and get a better processor with more options. Whenever something is out of date they automatically upgrade and make something new, which is why they come out with a new line of products ever October. Apple is hands down the best marketing and retail business in the United States today thanks to Steve Jobs.

The Impact that Steve Jobs has had on our generation is unbelievable. Without him our information and technology systems would be no where as close as they are today. Nothing against Bill Gates but Macintosh blows Windows out of the water. Just think about what we would do today with out Ipods, ITunes, or Photoshop. People would go crazy. Steve Jobs single handedly change information systems for the better. The one lesson I will learn from Steve Jobs is to never give up on something you are determined to do. He showed me that you could change your and everyone else’s life for the better if you put your mind to it.

google docs

I looked at Google docs. I have used it in many of my class’s before, so I had an understanding how to get it started and work. But a few years ago when I learned about it I felt like it would be to hard to understand/ to time consuming. But I was wrong they have a really easy layout to learn and a useful program for group projects. I love using Google docs when im doing a group project because u can post all your information in the layout and all your group members can look at it and change some information and unload it again. I feel like this is a great asset when some of your group members play sports or don’t live on campus. Because you can do it on your own time and when its good for you. Instead of having to go to the library at a certain time to meet with everyone, this program had opened up the world to new technology. Some people still like to meet in person but I feel like world will move to Google docs or something similar. It’s just easy and free, instead of having to buy a flash drive or a storage device that can cost up to 20 dollars. I have jumped on board to the movement of Google doc’s im sure everyone else will soon enough.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a free web-based word processor application. It includes spreadsheets and presentations as well as the word processor. It allows users to create basic documents from scratch or from the many templates offered on the application. Templates include bullet lists, columns, tables, images, comments, formulas, easy to change fonts, and more.
This Google application allows you to upload any existing files and includes easy editing. It is mainly used for its ability to share documents with other Google Doc users online. You can choose to share with whoever you want and control who can or cannot see the documents online. It allows multiple users to open, share, and edit documents at the same time. You could share a document to all online users if you choose. Even when documents are publically viewable, all edits made to already-shared documents are automatically republished. You can also post any documents to blog, helping you to receive any feedback from your work. This is a very easy process to benefit all Google Doc users.
The easy online storage benefits users to save all documents in their account. This creates any and all un-needed flask drives or hard drives to save any documents. All documents are organized within folders created by the account users. Having your own Google Doc account is like having your own desktop online. All of your created documents are well organized, safely stored, and available to do whatever you please with them.
This application benefits many individual college students, any study groups, and even companies. It helps to keep things organized and people connected. It helps professors and study groups to share schedules and prepare weekly assignments. Spreadsheets can be used to share deadlines, assignment details, and any feedback. Documents can be shared to anyone at any given time and edited by any members welcomed to view it. College students may be interested in using this application to create any assignments, take any notes, blog any documents, receive any feedback, or create any document; all from any web accessed computer.
Google Docs is like having Microsoft Word for free, online, and with many other benefits and privileges.

Google Docs

The website that I looked at was Google Docs. I have heard of this website before and a few professors have suggested using it because it was an easy way to communicate with fellow classmates on projects. When I first opened up Google Docs I found that the page was very simple and looked as if it would be user friendly. When you sign into your google account it brings you right into your profile where it has your ocllection of past works and a spot to create new porjects. The only thing that I wasnt pleased with in the whole website was that I couldnt find a spot to upload already created documents. I know this website is made so that you can create documents through its free web-based word processor, but I dont want to have to cop and paste all the documents that I have previously saved in microsoft word.
When I looked at this website in the eyes of a businesss owner or professional I saw that it could be very useful. It give you a link between another person in which increases your communication. It can be used for so many diffrent professions and in so many ways. For example a construction worker could use it to send drawings or plans to a certain client, while a claims adjuster could communicate with their boss or clients using the forms or documents page. But not only could the receiver view the information, it gives them a chance to edit what they have sent and give the creator any suggestions. This gives the customer or client a sense of having input and will increase the relationship between the people without having to be sitting right next to each other.
What was so interesting about google docs was that it is a sort of free portal between people, in which enchances communication and enables you to send what you please to others with google acounts.

Response to Alanna

I agree with Alanna's statements about how Google Docs will help businesses operate. I believe being able to work on a group project, where it is a hands on experience for all the members is better and more efficient than everyone sitting around one computer. Allowing businesses to operate this way is one more step up on the "technological ladder." It also lays out the groundwork for a product that's more detailed and interactive to make it's debut into the corporate world.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a free, web-based word-processor. The applications allow for word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawings, and form applications. This is application is very similar to Microsoft Office. It allows for people to work on their documents from anywhere they have internet access. It is also more fit for the workplace, because it allows for multiple users to use view and edit the document at the same time.
In order to use this, you need to have a Gmail account. The documents are saved on the gmail account, able to be accessed anywhere and at anytime. Microsoft Office requires a subscription or a software purchase.
In my opinion, Google Docs is better to use than Microsoft Office. It is more efficient because of its features. I believe that companies should switch to this system of word processing because they would be able to get more work done with greater detail.

Lotus Quickr. By Samuel

The IBM's new product Lotus Quickr provides shared content with version control in the form of documents directories with check-in and check-out features based on user privileges. This program provides online team spaces where members can share and collaborate by utilizing team calendars, discussions forums, blogs, wikis, and other collaboration tools for managing projects and other content. This program is very effective becuase it makes it easier for parties to collaborate with each other, which conducts more efficiently. Belgium's the largest contruction company, has put the collaboration tools of Quickr to good use for example. The condtruction projects within have many parties the must collaborate effectively so that they can get the project done on time with the best cost. For example when these projects are conducted on a global scale, the parties are seperated across the world, and become very complexed. This program makes the process much more effective when dealing with long distance collaboration with companies. I believe that this software can reduce both the volume of large transations and large attachments sent through e-mail and the impact of the e-mails of the companies systems, and as a result becoming more efficient.

Response to Dave

I agree with you on google being well know and people having gmail accounts. Also how well the company is growing and expanding with the change in techonlogy.I think they are doing a great job on keeping up with the times and being able to stay in thde business against their competition. I also think that people can easily recongize google because of them having email through them and using them as a search guide. The famous line that almost everyone says is "just google it" so that alone to me makes them stand out. So like what u say it just makes sense for someone to just use Google Docs when the use other applications from them.

I agree that because Google is so well known and respected that a lot of people are going to prefer using their services to anyone else. But I think the most drawing aspect of it is is that it is already incorporated with all the other parts of Google. People already have a g-mail account so they might as well use Google docs; however, I still think that Google Docs doesn't offer enough support or customization to meet the needs of a corporate user. On the other hand, the simplicity and lack of customization is, I think, what brings in all the home users. No one wants to sort through 2 hours of setup just to have their homework available from any computer. They might as well use e-mail. So I really don't think that Google Docs will have that big of an impact for companies, but I think the average user is going to become a lot more familiar with the cloud computing.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a free web based word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation application. It gives users the oportunity to create and edit documents online while being able to share and or collborate with other users. it also allows multiple users to open, share, and edit doucments at the same time. This application is something that can be very helpful in most businesses and organization. For example organizations can use this particular application to share files that several different departments need access to. take a school system that needs to share a lot of information across their district they can use Google Docs to upload common used documents that everyone needs access to. Which can help improve the process in departments within the school system and i think Google as a company is very well know and respected. People might feel better using a different application from them because they used other applications. Its easier to adopt to a new application from a company that you use then to try something new with a new company that you dont know about. - Alanna Johnson

Google is by far one of the most innovative and well known companies in the world. With a corporate culture encouraging innovation, it is not surprising that although it is a giant company it has not fallen behind their competition, which usually happens to big companies, as discussed in the article Why Big Tech Companies Like Google Can Still Innovate. Although there are many options for search engines and some have other preferences, Google still remains one of the most popular search engines because, as I have heard, Saint Google, knows everything. Aside from being a search engine, Google has grown to provide Internet users with their own email service. Their email site is known for their massive, continuously growing database which grow to allow a more “intuitive, efficient, and useful,” as stated on the login page, way to utilize email, known as Gmail. In addition within their email, an application known as Google Docs, allows massive files, which are usually not allowed on other email service providers due to a limit on files, to be shared between the user and those they invite to view their document (or they can be made public).

Announced in October 11, 2006, Google has found a solution to the problem of collaborating on projects between users’ online and transferring documents from one computer to another by simply using Google Docs. An innovative, efficient and effective way to use, simply by signing up for a free Gmail email account, Google Docs allows multiple users to create, change, add and delete information simultaneously. Thus, although not in person, it allows a group of team members on a time they agree upon without being physically next to each other.

Through person experience, I have not used this program because, I was unaware of it until I saw a friend of mine using it to complete a PowerPoint presentation, with his other group members who was not with us at the time. I was completely surprised at how easy, fun and organized the process was. The program not only allows everyone to simultaneously get access to the documents, but allows them to assign which slides where whose to complete, by color coding each of the slide with a different color for a different name, which showed when you ran your mouse over the slide in the side bar. I thought to myself how much easier it would have been doing group presentations and papers would have been when I was in high school if this had come out then.

Aside from the ease of sharing information through Google Docs, their newest feature is their apps for Android to be accessible through mobile tablets, where users can access, share and edit their documents at their own convenience no matter where there are, as shown on their Docs Blog. Their blog also shows other news and notes about Google Docs and Sites from the team members working on them.

Blog About Google Docs

Google’s success is largely due to its innovation and creativity that has allowed it to survive the chaos of internet expansion. Its fearlessness has allowed it to undergo growth into completely new areas of internet processing. From simple searching to cloud computing, Google has continued to impress users and investors worldwide. It was thus no surprise when it unveiled Google Docs in 2010, which would allow file sharing of files up to 1 GB per file, to compete with collaborative software provided by Microsoft and IBM. However, unlike Microsoft and IBM, Google Docs does not boast guaranteed performance increases or cost reduction, but rather simplicity and ease. Such has always been the primary mode of differentiation between Google and its competition.

Reviewing the website of Google Docs, a striking similarity is seen in comparison to the Google homepage. Colorful images are arranged with minimal text to create a calm environment. There are no flashy images trying to highlight productivity and speed of collaboration, which indicates a sharp distinction from the other collaborative software providers. Google Docs is not interested in streamlining collaboration across an entire multinational organization; though it likely could, it instead targets the household and small business user. Once registered, users can add, create, or edit documents which are then available to other users who are given access. This service is intended to simplify the complications created by the new level of technology available to users. Rather than e-mailing files, which is flawed in security and easy, users can simply share through a cloud. And yet, surprising there is an area that Google seems to be lacking is a means of communication. There isn’t any chat room or voice communication software integrated with Google Docs, so users are unable to collaborate as effectively. This appears to be a massive competitive gap, but since Google offers its services for free it is understandable that the software capability lags a little behind premium providers.

Google is a surprising organization that spearheaded the discovery capability of the internet by developing the most powerful and expansive search engine on the internet. Google Docs will continue to be an interesting and competitive service. No matter what features it lacks, the simple fact that it is free and allows massive files to be shared almost ensures its ability to survive the competition.
