Bluetooth
As shown on MOTOACTV.COM, the MOTOACTV is a small light device that is more than just a stylish asset to anyone’s daily exercising routine. This device allows you to track your own workout performance data on their MOTOACTV.com website, by transferring your time, distance, speed and calories burned measured by via Bluetooth, Accusense Technology, accelerometer and precision GPS. Therefore, with this device precisely measuring all the aspects of your data, not only can you see how you are doing and where you are directly on the touch screen display, but you can also analyze how you are doing after your workout sessions. This device also lets you connect to wifi and other Smartphones with Bluetooth v4.0, such as Apple’s IPhone 4S, to allow you to continue to get texts and phone calls (with their stereo Bluetooth headphones). Displayed along with MOTOACTV, is Motorola’s Wireless Sports Headphones that has a heart rate monitor built in as well. Along with this new technology, this device also has a smart music player where it develops high-performance playlists by learning what songs can motivate you, through tracking your performance level against the music.
The other device is the first production of the Bluetooth low energy heart rate built that can be connected with any Bluetooth v4.0 Smartphone or gadget, as displayed on Nordic Semiconductors website. This product is produced by Dayton, the world’s leading developer of wireless sports and fitness monitoring developer and manufacturer, in collaboration with Nordic Semiconductor ASA, who is an ultra low power RF specialist. This device will allow people to monitor their heart rate and is the thinnest wireless heart-rate belt they have produced. It is suppose to last 1.5 years based on typical 1-hour/ day usage conditions.
I choose these two devices because, it shows how Bluetooth is utilized now to enhance sports and fitness devices, to monitor individuals performance. I think this will create a new market where many athletes and individuals will purchase for the ease and comfort these devices provide to monitor and track their performance in their daily workout routines. I believe this also opens the door for Bluetooth to expand into other monitoring equipment used in other industrial fields, such as the medical field to increase the ability to monitor patients’ heart-rates, blood pressure, respiratory rate among other things.
Bluetooth
The second piece of bluetooth technology that I looked at was in the medical field. The product is the foldable bluetooth baby scale. I thought that this product was interesting because it allows the user to easily store data about their new born child. This product developed by Soehnle Professional allows the user to send data straight from the scale to a personal computer in a way to easily track the weight of a new born child. The scale wirelessly transmits the data from the scale and sends it to a personal device to keep help track the progress of your child. This will help improve your day to day life because it will help you stay organized ans keep information of your child electronically. This improvement to technology in the medical field reminded me about when we talked about outsourcing. Hospitals these days are even able to outsource their medical field by sending things such as x-rays, and MRI's overseas and having doctors asses them in places such as India. These new baby scales could be a new way of hospitals keeping in touch with its patients without having the patient to come in but instead send the weight and such through the web. This will not only increase productivity but will make the life of both parents and doctors much more simple.

3G VS. 4G
T-Mobile currently offers an upgrade high speed packet access 3G network and AT&T is also busy rolling out high speed packet and is testing long term evolution technology, for a planned commercial 4G rollout over the next two years. As well as Verizon launching its own long term evolution network on a trial basis with limited coverage in 38 cities and 60 airports. The company says the network will be completed nationwide in 2013. I currently have the Sprint HTC EVO 3D phone and because of where I am I can’t access the 4G network. The most frustrating thing to me is having a phone with the capability but because of the technology I can’t use my phone to its fullest capacity. I don’t believe that phones should be made with the 4G capability because of the limited access of the network. Its point less to have the technology to support a faster network connection when the network is not available. So I guess in time the network will be up in running but how fast technology is developing and I believe the next best thing will be out. - Alanna Johnson
bluetooth
I looked at the Bluetooth.com site. The two that interested me the most was, they have a new Bluetooth app for the iphone. You can track your health through out your phone. And also the hands free phone for your car.
The iphone/ipod, has apps now that you can put a Bluetooth chip in your shoe so when you are running/ walking it will send what your heart rate and how much calories you are burning from your work out. I think this is very interesting because a your don’t even no the chip is in your shoe because its so small and It can be pulled up right on your phone/mp3 player. This is new technology that is changing the whole sports market. A few years ago this would be unheard of, no one ever thought this would be possible. After reading about this I want to go out and buy one.
The other one I looked at was the car Bluetooth. Now that the laws have changed in most states prohibiting you to use your phone when you’re driving. This is a great product to use. When someone calls you or your talking to someone on the phone it comes through the car radio. The interesting part is that your phone can be in your pocket, and just because it’s in the car you can answer it thought the radio. A lot of business sales people are using them; most deals are done in the car or on a golf course. You can also answer text messages and write them back thought this Bluetooth product. Most cars have them already installed when you buy the car. But if you have an older car you can buy it at best buy or on the Bluetooth website. My mom bought a new car and it already installed. When im in the car my phone locks right in to. It’s easy to use and not hard to set up. I think this product will save life’s, because most car accident that happen because people are on the phone or texting. Over all the two products I have looked at are great ideas. I can’t wait to see what Bluetooth comes up with in the coming years.
